At the innovative demand of the industry, III started the early stage of development of service science since 2006. Collaborating with the largest research organization in Europe, Fraunhofer IAO of Germany, in 2007, in order to bring in innovative service design, research methodology, and to further combine the experience of actual service design of IDEO from USA, III further developed the S.E.E. (Service Experience Engineering) method which is suitable for the application of Taiwanese enterprises to increase the success rate of the new service process for the Taiwan service industry.
The important tasks and achievements at the current stage are as follows:
The study of an innovative trend – FIND.
Cooperating with major international organizations namely the WEF and EIU over the past 10 years, III executed the FIND project to study the intelligence information of ICT development trend, and the established information competitiveness index certified internationally which is quoted by well-known global national competitive assessment organizations such as the WEF, EIU, and ITU etc. The FIND project observes and surveys different countries worldwide and the trend of the ICT industry competitiveness. They also compare new technologies as well as new business models, research and analyse emerging market opportunities and the entry strategy, accumulate various digitized databanks and publications, provide customized consultancy inquiries for domestic enterprises, and become the most important think-tank of e-business and innovative services for both the government and the ICT industry in Taiwan.
Promote Integration of Innovation – INNOnet
III gathered more than one hundred industry elites to design and re-enhance the value-chain of the ICT Innovation application services in Taiwan, which is primarily to attract innovative entrepreneur teams to interact with potential investors, and provide a platform for the exchange of new concepts and experience between science and technology at an advanced scale in Taiwan. This platform will also provide further discussion and compilation of specific topic agenda for innovative service models. It will also provide development strategies such as manufacturing serviceability, remote learning, health care, and Near Field Commerce for added reference avenues of both government policy and industry investment.
Verification of Innovative Service – Design Lab
The operation to apply the concept of innovative scientific service with the current ICT technology, and with the disciplined process concept proof, service proof, and business proof to provide a clearer proof and transparency of prototype in order to assist the different enterprises in a system of examination and mode of inspection before any new service makes an initial public offering [or IPO], which will adversely increase the success rate of any new service industry.
The Development and promotion of Service Experience Engineering – SEE
III published the first series of integration of the international and domestic experience in the service capability of its R&D [research and development] Guide - Service Experience Engineering methodology Guide Book series, which becomes the official text book of both colleges and universities in Service Experience Engineering. III also further held S.E.E. International Symposium to promote service design and research development from Taiwan to the international arena.
III is the leader in Taiwan in the promotion of science and technology service industry. It not only takes up the role of being the think-tank in the government’s IT-enabled Services policy, but also provides assistance for the Information Service enterprises in transition to an ICT platform service business. The goal is to build and strengthen an excellent science and technology services industry in Taiwan, but also to enhance and accelerate the industry in its quest for global competitiveness.
