III’s achievement in nurturing talents and providing professional training is widely recognized in Taiwan.  Since its inception, III has trained over 400,000 information technology professionals.  It was voted “Best Educational Training Institute” six consecutive times by the Information Management Association and dubbed as the talent resource for outstanding ICT professionals.  DEI is focused on ICT Technology, IteS, Digital Content, Semiconductor, and Operational Management courses, as well as the promotion and development of e-Learning.  Every year, more than 10,000 individuals complete on-the-job, career and teacher trainings; ranging from basic courses, professional certification and testing to integrated cross-industry learning.

By developing specialized teaching methods and curriculums geared towards high technology cross-domain training, managing professionals for digital content creation and industry development, III keeps pace with the times as it establishes an e-Learning industry while promoting its application.

Technology Research and Development

  1. Classroom of the future
III has developed the first prototype system for Taiwan’s classroom of the future.  This would help upgrade and promote transition to e-learning thus, breaking new grounds.

III has also developed the second generation “classroom of the future” with an innovative Mathematics software with multi-touch and hand gesture recognition; it allows junior high school students to have fun while learning Geometry.  This technological breakthrough surpasses the current touch screen limitation as it creates an innovative classroom learning with the “Happy Magic Electronic Desk” with 32 touch-control sensor design, which allows students to work in groups and solve arithmetic problems together.

  2. Mobile Learning technology application
This entails the development of devices and a cross-platform Mobile Learning technology application that supports the COPE (Create Once, Publish Everywhere) feature and addresses the time-consuming work involved in creating the suitable platform for digital content.  The development covers EeePC and iPhone mobile devices.

  3. Chinese language semantic analysis technology
To improve the Chinese language recognition rate, III has combined grammar and statistical methods based on a knowledge database that detects basic character-usage error and corrects it.  By collecting common mistakes while editing, such as misspelled or incorrect characters in the knowledge database, the system’s judgment capability is maximized through statistical methods in the character database.  This technology has detection and correction capabilities; therefore, it is ideal for high school students as well as foreign students who are learning Chinese.  Its Chinese language teaching platform has been successfully tested on Vietnamese students, with the cooperation of III, Asus, and Gjun Information Corporation.

  4. e-Learning
Based on a large scale, integrated, global and regional fusion strategy, III has assisted e-Learning enterprises by developing their core capabilities and operational models which allowed them to make profit.  The product value of e-Learning has reached NT$12 billion in 2008.  More than 20 various industries were assisted; the attained Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) standards were at a high ratio of 90%, while the rate was well over 52% for large scale enterprises.

III’s e-Learning courseware was approved and certified by the US ASTD ECC, making Taiwan the first country in Asia to obtain such certification.

III trains e-Learning professionals and provides guidance to e-Learning enterprises that require change or upgrade, enabling them to become competititve.  It also promotes the Chinese language e-Learning industry.
