Over the past decade, software system services and apps have undergone rapid developments. The Institute for Information Industry built the Software Quality and Information Security Test Platform to test software systems and professional information security, which increase software test speed for Taiwanese firms, ensure software quality, and lower information security risks.
Accelerated Software Tests and Management The Institute for Information Industry offers software quality tests and information security test platforms. It provides the following products and services: Function tests, performance tests, information security tests, and automated test platforms. The provision of these platforms allow firms to obtain the desired test services. The platform, governed by the international standard test procedure ISO 29119, combines various resources and tools to provide services such as web applications, mobile app test services, case test management, issue tracking, and information security tests. By overcoming equipment limitations, physical devices from different “ends” (i.e., user end, server end, and mobile app end) are virtualized and turned into webpages to create an end-to-end integrated test environment. In addition, the free software Apache JMeter is integrated into the system, to provide a simple and easy-to-use operation interface and graphical data analyses, which elevate product quality, enhance overall test efficiency, and lower development costs.
Concerning information security tests, motion detection technologies and virtual sandbox mechanisms are employed to test software operation at the server end as well as monitor and detect abnormal software activities to identify system information security problems. Regarding mobile app tests, the App Quality Alliance (AQuA), an international software test standard, is used to provide professional app tests such as assessing mobile app quality and package structure as well as performing app disassembly analyses.
Elevating Product Quality and Lowering Information Security Risks The Institute for Information Industry offers software quality tests and information security test platforms, provides the government with related projects to allow it to conduct software tests, and assists domestic firms to develop software products and undergo product quality and information security tests that help them improve their software quality and lower information security risks. Patents for this technology have been received around the world, including five in Taiwan, one in the U.S.A., and two in Japan. In addition, the Institute for Information Industry works jointly with the China University of Technology to develop professional test personnel. By imparting test knowledge and teaching practical platform applications, professional test skills are successfully transferred to the new blood. With respect to the Institute for Information Industry’s core information security technology, it was chosen as the winner of the Security Category at the 2015 APICTA Awards and received the Bronze Award at the Taipei Int’l Invention Show & Technomart. The Institute for Information Industry will continue to help the software industry improve its software product quality and maintain a high-quality information security environment.
