TJPO has pushed for the collaboration between Japanese and Taiwanese content providers in the digital cultural creativity industry. In early times, TJPO had already made contact with the content providers in Japan and assisted the visit of Japan Electronic Publishing Association (JEPA) led by Kodansha Ltd. President Noma. The group not only had a meeting with President Ma but also established the communication channel between the two sides. In 2011, the collaboration between Kodansha Ltd. and Cite Media Holding Group in the digital publishing industry opened a new era for the business.
The cooperation this year was originated from the Kaohsiung City Government’s official visit to Kodansha Ltd. in 2013. Under the support of TJPO, Kodansha President Noma agreed to expand the fields of collaboration with the digital content providers in Taiwan. The same year in October, witnessed by Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Mr. Jong-Chin Shen (Director General of Industrial Development Bureau at the time), Kodansha Ltd. and Brogent Technologies Inc. signed the first MOU which then became the foundation for solid collaboration between the two parties. In order to strengthen the relationship between two sides, Kodansha Ltd. and Brogent Technologies Inc. further signed MOU focusing on future content development as well as the establishment of joint venture and production committee in Taiwan and Japan. In the future, the content developing unit will develop and publish related merchandises associated with well-known Japanese content to take the advantages and increase competitiveness in the global entertainment market.
Kodansha Ltd. is one of the indicative comprehensive publishing groups which has various universally appreciated books and comics such as “Attack on Titan”, “Ghost in the Shell”, and “Fairy Tail”. In recent years, the company further expands global market by multiple methods including movies, animated movies and peripheral products. In 2011, Kodansha Ltd. established Kodansha Taiwan Media Group Co. to strengthen the collaboration with Taiwan publishing companies.
Located in Kaohsiung Software Technology Park, Brogent Technologies Inc. is known for its mobile device software, and the development, design and selling of proprioceptive simulation entertainment equipment and has cultivated the global market for a long time. Brogent Technologies Inc.’s main customers are theme parks so that its research and development teams have the strategic advantages of innovation capability, software and hardware integration skills, customized service, and competitive price with high product quality. As the high tech companies in Taiwan develop maturely and have excellent mass production and product development capability, Japanese companies in the cultural creativity, entertainment, and intellectual property industry have brand image strength. The cooperation between Kodansha Ltd. and Brogent Technologies Inc. will strengthen the relationship between two sides. In the future, companies in Taiwan and Japan can follow the same path grasping global business opportunities together and leading the industry advancing to the next level.
