The 5th KISR-Taiwan Institute Joint Workshop on Advanced Technology Applications comes to a satisfying end. The amount of business match facilitated by III reaches more than 100 million NTDs.

To strengthen the partnership between Taiwan and Kuwait in the advanced technology industries and promote Taiwan information and communication products in the Middle East markets, on the instructions of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Foreign Affairs, III International Division (ID) and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) held the 5th KISR-Taiwan Institute Joint Workshop on Advanced Technology Applications last week and got striking achievements, together with Ministry of Health and Welfare Information Department, National Taiwan Ocean University, and ACS Advanced Control and Systems Inc. In a short period of time, 5 MOUs are expected to be signed and within the coming year, the amount of coming business opportunities is estimated no less than 100 million NTDs.
Different from previous visits, the team of KISR was led by its international cooperation director Dr. Nader Al-Awadhi and the team members included 6 experts from various fields to participate in the 5-day event. In order to increase international marketing experience and lead more domestic firms to enter the global markets, III International Division positioned this visit as the internalization of Industry 4.0 and focused on 4 main issues-Health Information Technologies, Advanced Process Control, Modern Aquaculture Technologies, and Energy Efficiency Systems and Technologies. III scheduled the team to visit ACS Advanced Control and Systems Inc., Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection, Advantech, Inventec, Fisheries Research Institute, Council of Agriculture, Taiwan Power Company, National Taiwan Ocean University…etc. There were 32 meetings arranged continuously. In total, 43 units and 398 professionals from the academics and industries as well as the political fields had the chance to exchange ideas with the visiting crew. The scale of the event increased more than 50% comparing to the event last year. It is expected that the global market potential for our intellectual application products could be further developed and the business opportunities could be created accordingly.
What is worth mentioning was that, after visiting the petroleum factories of CPC and Formosa Plastics Group, the experts from KISR expressed their interest in the cooperation on the topics related to industry 4.0 such as Big Data Analysis in Combination of Geographical positioning with Taiwan professionals. These topics will be listed as important collaboration items between the two sides for the future. Moreover, there will be more business opportunities for the two countries coming in the fields such as highway tolling system which derives its market competitiveness from its efficiency, innovations from small and medium-sized businesses of which the creation energy bursts restlessly, various coaching facilities developed and applied in incubation centers, energy policies and energy saving application technologies, and sanitation and health information system. The cooperation is a great encouragement to Taiwanese firms pursuing success in these areas.
On June 8th , the president of III, the organizer of the event, Mr. Ruey Beei Wu indicated in the opening ceremony that III has established a long term close partner relationship with KISR since 2009 and helped KISR complete a variety of information system consulting and installation projects. For the reason, KISR has a deep understanding and solid recognition with regard to the high tech capability and experience of Taiwanese firms. Up to now, KISR has assisted Taiwanese companies signed 20 contracts and matched more than 70 million NTD business turnover.
In 2015, KISR-Taiwan Institute Joint Workshop on Advanced Technology Applications has reached the 5th year. This also reveals the determination of III to develop deeply into the Middle East market. By continuous technical exchange between the government and the academics of Taiwan and KISR, the diverse business development in Taiwan and Kuwait and the cooperation opportunities between the two countries are guaranteed. It is believed that with the superb experience and intelligence of the Information and Communication Technology Industry of Taiwan, III is no doubt able to assist Taiwanese firms explore and develop new business opportunities in the Middle East market.
Mr. Wan-Lu, Chang, Consul General of Department of West Asian and African Affairs, which is also the guiding unit of the event, specifically indicated that Taiwan’s potential in technology diplomacy was substantially presented in this event. He further expressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had long devoted to promoting economic diplomacy and this event was beneficial to the development of economic and trade activities as well as friendship between Kuwait and Taiwan. In the future, it is expected that III can play the role as the mediator and coordinator between the Middle East and Taiwan markets so that Taiwan information industry can enter the Middle East market swiftly with the help of III. Moreover, III will also discuss with participants in the industry to accurately map out the developing strategy in the Middle East market. By this method, there is no doubt that Taiwanese firms can keep up with the future trend of the market, expedite their paces entering the emerging market, and grasp the business opportunities of information industry in the Middle East market as well as create the blue ocean market for themselves.
Ms. Wan-Jung, Tai, Section Chief of the Bureau of Foreign Trade, MOEA, also pointed out that the Bureau of Foreign Trade, MOEA had long facilitated domestic firms increasing foreign trades and expanding overseas markets and presented with great results. In the information and communication service industry of Taiwan, the related firms have accumulated service expertise with international competitiveness. Once entering the international market, these firms can not only assist the economic development of Taiwan, but also can make great contribution to the industry development of the other countries. The Bureau of Foreign Trade looks forward to the cooperation between III and KISR, and encourages domestic enterprises to be creative and come up with solutions integrating software and hardware which can become the main product for the Middle East Market.
As a matter of fact, to assist Taiwanese information and communication enterprises expand markets in the Middle East, III established in September, 2014 “The Promotion Office of Information and Communication Service between Kuwait and Taiwan” specializing in promoting the information communication cooperation for the firms in Taiwan and those in the Middle East. After III and KISR signed the collaborative contract at the end of the event, “The Promotion Office of Information and Communication Service between Kuwait and Taiwan” will carry on the job to assist the execution of special projects conducted by KISR as well as researchers and firms of Taiwan. In the future, III will continue to facilitate the export of ICT software and hardware, provide service for special projects, and offer consulting services. Undoubtedly, III will keep playing the role as the mediator between Taiwan and Kuwait markets providing resources such as market information, professional staffs, and collaborative projects so that the information of ICT related business opportunities and government bids could be delivered to Taiwanese firms and the cooperation opportunities between Taiwan and Kuwait can therefore be increased. A brand new future for the export market in the information and communication industry is created accordingly.
