“Giuseppe Castiglione – Lang Shining New Media Art Exhibition”, Produced Collectively by III and the National Palace Museum, Awarded the 49th World Fest-Houston International Film Festival Grand Remi Award

Organized by the National Palace Museum and arranged by III, “Giuseppe Castiglione – Lang Shining New Media Art Exhibition” was awarded the 49th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival Grand Remi Award and New Nedia Interactive Adult/ Professional Genre Platinum Award while the first National Palace Museum produced 4K animation "Adventures of the Mythical Creatures at the National Palace Museum" * was exhibited collectively and awarded the silver award in the action film category. The award presentation ceremony was held on April 16th at Double Tree by Hilton Grand Ballroom, Houston and the Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston Mr. Huang, Ming-Jin and his wife presented to receive the award on behalf of the National Palace Museum.
In 2013, III collaborated with the National Palace Museum mapped out Qianlong C.H.A.O. New Media Art Exhibition with the concept that everyone were Qianlong. The exhibition was awarded Gold Remi Award by World Fest-Houston International Film Festival and MUSE Awards by the American Association of Museums. In 2015, III once again worked together with the National Palace Museum to produce "Giuseppe Castiglione – Lang Shining New Media Art Exhibition" and the first 4K action film produced by the National Palace Museum "Adventures of the Mythical Creatures at the National Palace Museum" which were recognized by the film festival for the second time.
"Giuseppe Castiglione – Lang Shining New Media Art Exhibition" gathered more than 10 Taiwanese artists and creation teams. With the help of smart mobile devices, mobile touring App service, and other digital media, audiences could turn themselves into time and space travelers roaming at will in modern Lang Shining art space constructed by the vocabularies of contemporary new media. The exhibition created an experiment area integrated different professional domains that connected the elements of the East and West, virtual space and reality, as well as action and contemplation for visitors to get familiar with the new art world drawn by Lang Shining through multi-sensors.
The exhibition introduced the latest generation "Domestically Produced Smart Glasses" which were manufactured collectively by III and the domestic firm, ChipSiP Technology. By patent protected infrared image recognition technology, the product provided visiting guests excellent application service with multi-angle product explanation from the information given by the National Palace Museum. Further, the exhibition also applied the research and development results related to the technology special projects funded by Ministry of Economic Affairs. By mobile museum guiding smart App, smart glasses and interactive technologies, curators of the exhibition wanted to create a whole new experience for exhibition visitors, realized the ideal of BYOD(Bringing Your Own Device), and demonstrated as well as promoted the application service that requires cross domain innovation and collaboration.
"Adventures of the Mythical Creatures at the National Palace Museum" is a film using animation skills to transform the animals drawn by Lang Shining into Mythical Creatures. Within half a year production period, multiple domestic animation companies gathered together and collectively drew out 5 scenes and 33 cultural relic characters. They also use specific techniques to represent hair of the animals so that the realistic style of Lang Shining's paintings could be showcased. The story delineates that the leading characters strayed into an old map, Great Universal Geographic Map, and induced their partners chased by strange animals and got trapped in. To save their partners, their adventure rolled on accordingly.
WorldFest Houston International Film and Video Festival is one of the three most competitive internationally well-known film festivals. There were 500 films and 1500 films from 74 countries participating in the competition. The competition was ferocious. "Giuseppe Castiglione – Lang Shining New Media Art Exhibition" and "Adventures of the Mythical Creatures at the National Palace Museum" are still exhibited in the National Palace Museum 210 multi-media room for visitors who are interested in the topics. It is suggested that domestic nationals choose the night time on Friday and Saturday. With personal identification, no fee is required.
*Note: There are two versions of the action film "Adventures of the Mythical Creatures at the National Palace Museum": The 5 minute version and the 27 minute version.
