Institute for Information Industry (III) has been devoted to encouraging professionals in the academic or industrial fields to participate in Science and Technology Projects launched by the government and has diligently promoted the cooperation between Taiwanese companies and Japanese enterprises. For this reason, III spontaneously put forward the proposal to bestow Mr. Takehiro Kamigama for his excellent contribution to improve the cooperation between companies of Japan and Taiwan in the electronic components industry, who served as the president of TDK for the last 10 year. The ceremony was held on August 26, 2016 at the auditorium of Ministry of Economic Affairs where Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Chih-Kung Lee bestowed the Economic Profession Award on Mr. Takehiro Kamigama.
In 1968, TDK Corporation, one of the top electronic component providers, founded the first overseas operation unit in Taiwan. Bolstered by III, TDK Corporation continues to invest in Taiwan and collaborate with Taiwanese companies so as to transform into high value added companies given TDK experience. In 2011, III assisted TDK apply "The Program of Multinational Innovation R&D Center in Taiwan" to increase the research and development capability of Taiwanese companies. TDK Corporation collaborated with domestic academic and industrial research and development units to strengthen the cooperation in the fields such as electronic components, green energy, and intelligent living technologies so as to develop a large number of high value added technologies. In the future, III expects TDK could collaborate with Taiwanese companies in a wide range of aspects in order that its foresighted technology could be further developed in Taiwan. Additionally, III looks forward to the expansion of cooperation between TDK and Taiwanese firms in the IOT industry for the purpose that the companies of the two countries could mutually enter the global market.
Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr. Chih-Kung Lee indicated that Mr. Takehiro Kamigama, during his term as the president, long led TDK devoting to self-motivated research and development of technologies and products in the electronic component industry and, with Taiwanese academic and industrial units, expanded related field researches including domains such as WLC, VCA, and intelligent production to assist technology upgrading and transformation for related industries in Taiwan. Since 2013, TDK Taiwan has continuously been bestowed the honor of IPO Awards by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Additionally, Mr. Takehiro Kamigama collaborated with domestic firms to mutually conduct the design, planning, and establishment of intelligent production line so as to increase the market percentage of domestically manufactured critical IOT components and build up a successful paradigm for intelligent manufacturing. Last year (2015), TDK further cooperated with ASE Group to establish a joint venture, ASE Embedded Electronics Incorporated, focusing on upstream crucial technology in the semiconductor industry, Semiconductor Embedded SUBstrate (SESUB). By providing and developing solutions in the wearable device industry as well as downsizing and slimming products in the IOT industry, TDK assisted domestic semiconductor enterprises upgrade their technology ability and grasp business opportunities in the IOT industry.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs esteemed highly of President Takehiro Kamigama and bestowed Economic Profession Award on him, who has provided outstanding contribution to the improvement of the information communication technologies of our country and the transferring of these technologies to the government. By granting Economic Profession Award, the Ministry of Economic Affairs expects that mutual cooperation between Japan and Taiwan in the domains such as IOT and green energy technologies could go smoothly along with the promotion policy for the innovation industry. TDK and Taiwanese firms could mutually benefit from strengthening industrial chain collaboration as well as developing deep relationship with firms in Taiwan while entering the third market together.
