The New Generation Persuasive Electric Vehicle (PEV) Arrived! III, MIT Media Lab and Microsoft Taiwan creating the new "Intelligent Mobility System Application Services" embedded in the new generation Persuasive Electric Vehicle (PEV).
Innovation, innovation and re-innovation! In January 2016, MIT, the world leading innovation unit, collaborated with III to announce the first generation Persuasive Electric Vehicle (PEV) with the support of Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs. On 13th Oct, III Innovative Digi Tech-Enabled Applications and Services Institute, Microsoft Taiwan, and MIT Media Lab cooperated together to hold "Intelligent Mobility System Application Services" workshop and specifically announced the "New Generation Persuasive Electric Vehicle (PEV).
In contrast to the first generation Persuasive Electric Vehicle (PEV), the PEV showcased this time combines innovative applications such as "Self-driving Patrol and Environment Surveillance System" developed by III and "Facial Recognition and Voice Control System" presented by Microsoft Taiwan. In the future, Persuasive Electric Vehicle will be able to combine with different types of IoT solution packages in order to make adjustment to various application situation and carry on diverse tasks. As a result, it is expected that PEV could be applicable to environment surveillance as well as applications related to facial recognition unlock systems.
At the time when huge enterprises such as Google, Apple, and Face Book dedicate to the research and development of Persuasive Electric Vehicle one after another, the related industries in Taiwan have the unique opportunities to grasp the leading opportunities in the commerce application service domain in response to the uprising demand of IoT associated goods and services. As a matter of fact, at the beginning of this year, III worked with MIT Media Lab for the first time to announce the first generation PEV which is based on an intelligent light weight vehicle installed electronic power-assisted devices and pedals. For this reason, users can choose auto-drive mode or enjoy the pleasure driving by themselves. Furthermore, the vehicle is also equipped with GPS positioning and detecting information devices so that the PEV could calculate the shortest route and decelerate or detour in accordance with the latest traffic situation.
After 9- month hard work, guided by Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, III further strengthened the collaboration with MIT Media Lab. Cooperating on the project of "Cloud Service and Big Data Industry Development", the two units set the target to forge a safe, energy saving, and convenient future city which applies various innovative services. Through IoT technologies, PEV application situation in the future could be exhibited in front of the public and various intelligent cloud services could therefore be introduced at the same time. Looking forward to the future, it is expected that a wide range of domestic and international academic organizations and business enterprises could work together to create new cloud services.
Could you imagine PEV cruising on the streets of Taipei in 2050? On 13th and 14th, Oct, IoT Expo "Intelligent Mobile System Application Service" Exhibition Area was an eye opener for you. The hosting unit of the event expected to assist distinguished guests deelply understand future applications of PEV by this chance. What is more important is that IoT application service technology R&D teams and service providers in the related domain could work together and further integrate intelligent mobile vehicles developed by MIT to showcase the effectiveness of IoT application innovation platform in Taiwan and to construct collectively the new models for service applications that fit the need of future cities as well as the international markets.
Supported by Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, III collaborated with Microsoft Taiwan and MIT Media Lab to hold "Intelligent Mobility System Application Services" workshop and simultaneously announce the first generation Persuasive Electric Vehicle (PEV) which showcased the latest global research and development trend in the field.
On 13th, October, "Intelligent Mobility System Application Services" workshop officially kicked off in IoT Expo. Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr. Jong-Chin Shen (the 8th from the right in the first row), III Chief Technology Officer Warren Chen (the fist from the left in the first row), and Microsoft Taiwan General Manager Guang-hua, Shao (the 7th from the right in the first row) took a photo with all visiting guests.
