Taiwanese Company Nada Holdings Inc. Collaborates with Japan’s Kodansha to Produce the 3D TV Animation "Chi's Sweet News"

Nada Holdings collaborates with Kodansha to successfully build up a model for the globalization of Intellectual Property. "Chi's Sweet Home" (チーズスイートホーム), a comic which enjoys high popularity within 23 countries such as Japan and France, launched a 3D TV animation series "Chi's Sweet News" with brand new production. On October 7th, witnessed by Chen-Wei, Yu, Secretary General of Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Nada Holdings announced its cooperation with Kodansha to establish production committee working on "Chi's Sweet News" and held the ceremony for the animation IP collaboration between Japan and Taiwan.
Industrial Development Bureau and Digital Content Industry Promotion Office, Ministry of Economic Affairs successfully facilitated the combination of Kodansha's IP and Nada Holdings to produce the whole new 3D animation "Chi's Sweet News". The two sides, Nada Holdings and Kodansha, applied the model collectively operating production committee. As far as the development of digital content industry for Taiwan and Japan is concerned, the two countries have become an inseparable unit.
Chen-Wei, Yu, Secretary General of Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, points out that Industrial Development Bureau has dedicated to the development of digital content industry for a long time. For the firms of content industry, the case can expedite the integration of various value networks in the fields such as the design industry of peripheral products as well as sales and distribution. For the development of the industry, the firms participating in the investment could apply the content to their own professional fields, which increase the vertical integration in the industries such as comic, animation, film, and peripheral products. It is also the crucial development key point for the idea of one content source with multiple applications to be successful in one try.
The original work, "Chi's Sweet Home", was serialized, from 2004 to 2015, in Kodansha's comic magazine "Morning" for 11 years. The story depicts the daily life of a mischievous kitten and his families. The "Chi's Sweet News" production committee comprises Nada Holdings which solely focuses on investing content related intellectual property authorization and management, Kodansha which is the largest publishing company in Japan, Dentsu which is the biggest advertising agent in Japan, well-known gaming company SEGA, and TV TOKYO Corporation. The content of the animation is produced by many Taiwanese animation companies and one of the subsidiaries of SEGA, Marza Animation Planet Inc. which has the experience of mapping out Hatsune Miku's concert. Bolstered by Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, III Industry Development Augmentation Division, Nada Holdings, and Kodansha worked closely with each other to facilitate the solid collaboration between Taiwan and Japan and actively promoted the establishment of the production committee for "Chi's Sweet News" which was founded with the support of Nada Holdings and Kodansha.
Hsiao-Lung, Hsu, Special Assistant to CEO of Nada Holdings, indicated, "Even though there were cases that foreign companies joined Japanese production committee, most of the cases were works of preliminary scale. However, the participation of the work "Chi's Sweet News" was another story. The work derives from the original comic book enjoying high popularity. This work had also been made into 2D TV animation for 2 series in 2008 and acclaimed highly so that the transforming production of the brand new 3D animation for the work this time would be totally different in terms of the scale. Moreover, the members within the production committee are all well-known big names of Japanese firms so we will continue dedicating to investing intellectual property of famous works and work closely with these brands."
"Chi's Sweet News" is the flagship model for 3D TV animation collaboration between Japan and Taiwan. In the future, it is believed that Taiwanese firms would gather more resources across various fields and work closely with Japanese enterprises to create innovative business models so that the cross domain cooperation between Taiwan and Japan could be seen on the global stage.
