ITRI and III Collaborate on International Project to Promote Smart City Cloud Service in Vietnam
Sustained by Industry Development Bureau and Department of Industrial Technology , Ministry of Economic Affairs, ITRI and III, two of the most paramount technology institutes in Taiwan, launched the cross organization project "Cloud Interactive Advertisement Analysis and Wide Area Wireless System" in Bình Dương, Vietnam on October 27th to help the province promote its smart city plan. To align with the New Southbound Policy promoted by the government and facilitate the export of "Smart City" Cloud Solution Package developed by domestic teams, sustained by the "Industry Development Project of Cloud Service and Big Data" proposed by Industry Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the " Development Project of Network Traffic Distribution Structure with Relaying Capability" presented by Department of Industrial Technology, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industrial Technology Research Institute and Institute for Information Industry President Mr. Liu Jonq-Min and BECAMEX Investment and Industrial Development Corporation ( Becamex IDC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Nguyen Van Hung announced on October 27th in Bình Dương, Vietnam, that the " Cloud Interactive Advertising Data Analysis and Wide Area Wireless System" services will be provided with the help of ITRI and III, two of the most prestigious institutes in Taiwan to assist Bình Dương launch its smart city project. The event was witnessed by Vice Governor of Bình Dương Mr. Mai Hung-Dung as well as Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, HCM Economy Group Leader Kung Jung -Nan. Government officials expect that the project could be a demonstration for the technology quality of our country so as to help domestic companies enter the market and provide diverse services. In the future, it is hope that these services could be further promoted to the other areas in Vietnam and even other nearby countries mentioned in the New Southbound Policy.
Industrial Technology Research Institute and Institute for Information Industry President Mr. Liu Jonq-Min indicated that the technology development of our country in the information and communication domain is well acclaimed around the world. Additionally, in recent years, the benefits of establishing the infrastructure of "Smart City" by central government in local counties and cities have gradually emerged. How to fit international market demand, cooperate with enterprises located at site, and bring to the world "Smart City Cloud Solution", one of the service packages surviving the ordeal of Taiwan market, as well as grasp the springing-up business opportunities are the goals of the two well-known technology institutes.
BECAMEX IDC Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Nguyen Van Hung responded that, with the help with ITRI and III, he expected to introduce more Taiwanese research institutes to become one of the collaboration partners in the future so as to help Bình Dương fulfill its goal as a smart city. The businesses of BECAMEX Group cover a variety of domains including industrial fields, colleges taught all in English, hospitals, large scale infrastructures, etc. Currently, the group is assisting Bình Dương government developing its smart city services and launching the project "Binh Duong Navigator 2021", which attracts world famous organizations working collectively such as PHILIPS, BOSCH, IBM, and ITRI, etc. The event attracted lots of top representatives from different departments of Bình Dương government including departments of planning and investment, industrial management, technology, communication as well as various reporters of Vietnamese media. This also indicates that Bình Dương government is proactively trying to persuade Taiwanese companies and organizations to locate in the province and determined to collaborate with them in developing innovative applications.
The “Cloud Interactive Advertising Data Analysis and Wide Area Wireless System" service package launched in Bình Dương province combined hardware equipment adopting digital signage technologies developed by Taiwanese firm Radi International as well as wireless network accessing technologies from ITRI and software systems which use Cloud Interactive Advertising Data Analysis technologies developed by III. By capturing passing pedestrians in front of digital signage through camera lens, it is possible to identify at site customers' gender and age to provide customized commercial advertisement. Additionally, if combing with diverse interactive applications, the equipment could send data for further pedestrian traffic analysis and advertisement effectiveness analysis so as to help advertisers grasp business opportunities.
