III Successfully Launches and Executes DIGI+Talent Project, the Cross Disciplinary Talent Cultivation Program, Awarded 2018 ATD Innovation in Talent Innovation Award.

The list of award winners presented by the Association for Talent Development (ATD), the focal point and the highest honor in the global talent development domain, was announced on May 8th, 2018. Witnessed by more than 10,000 professionals from more than 90 countries around the globe,"DIGI+Talent Accelerator & Jumpstart Program" (hereinafter referred to as the "DIGI+Talent Program") , which was launched by Industrial Development Bureau of MOEA and conducted by Digital Education Institute of III, defeated those representative projects of various countries and won 2018 ATD Innovation in Talent Innovation Award.
This year is also coincidentally the 75th anniversary of ATD and Former President of the United States Mr. Obama attended the opening ceremony and gave a speech. There were over 10,000 professionals of various organizations including governments, enterprises, and higher education institutes who came from more than 90 countries around the world to San Diego to participate in the more than 300 seminars given by over 400 distinguished speakers invited by the event organizer. The evaluation standards for 2018 ATD Innovation in Talent Innovation Award are extremely rigorous. The main focus of the award is to praise the continuous innovation in talent development domain and recognize the contribution of institutions providing positive influence on the innovation and facilitation of global talent development. Only one or two candidates could be nominated each year so that the award is also referred to as the Oscar Academy Award in the talent development field. This is the first time that Taiwan is able to compete for the award.
After acknowledging "DIGI+Talent project" winning the award, Industrial Development Bureau of MOEA Director General Jang Hwa Leu indicated, "The industries in Taiwan are proactively launching projects associated with digital transformation. There is an urgent demand for digital professionals in various fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, Internet of Things, Fintech, AR/ VR smart content, etc. The traditional way of cultivating talents can no longer catch up with the increasing industrial talent demand and surging innovation speed. Director General Jang Hwa Leu acclaimed, " DIGI+Talent project is the cross-department talent cultivation model strongly supported by Industrial Development Bureau of MOEA. This is also the first time lawful entities and research institutes open their advanced technologies and abundant resources to college students as well as provide practical internship opportunities. Winning 2018 ATD Innovation in Talent Innovation Award is not an effortless work, which also represents and recognizes around the world the innovation capability in Taiwan in the industrial talent development domain.
During the award ceremony, ATD Chairman and CEO Tony Bingham specifically mentioned, "ATD Innovation in Talent Innovation Award is unique in that the nominees must go through rigorous nomination and selection process conducted by our committee of experts. Only one or two institutes could be bestowed the honor each year. Launched by Taiwan Government, "DIGI+Talent Accelerator & Jumpstart Program" astounds the judges of the committee by its energetic cultivation capability and innovative spirit, which makes full use of the online and offline mixed learning model as well as the open and innovative talent cultivation model with practical internship opportunities offered by research institutes. Defeating those from the other countries and winning the grand prize this year, the project really has the reputation it deserves.
III Digital Education Institute Director John Liao, the representative of DIGI+ Talent Project visiting the U.S.A for receiving the award, expressed his ideas in his speech, “With the support of Industrial Development Bureau of MOEA, DIGI+Talent Accelerator & Jumpstart Program was launched in 2017. By connecting schools, research institutes, companies in the industries, III designed the project targeting students from junior year to master's degree students, which is characterized by practical internship, mixed position cultivation process, and abundant learning resources from global enterprises. This is the world's first cross-disciplinary digital talent accelerated cultivation model which allows students to transform themselves to industrial talents by solid internship focusing on specific topics."
Director John Liao further explained," Differentiating from traditional classroom cultivation model, DIGI+Talent Project is unique in its extreme esteem of practical internship dealing with specific topics, which is based on the practical spirit of makers. In 2017, the project cultivated for Taiwan 350 trainees and provided 200 high quality practical works on specific topics so as to bring amazing innovative digital transformation energy for various industries such as textile industry, manufacturing industry, biotechnology industry, and finance industry, etc. Winning 2018 ATD Innovation in Talent Innovation Award, one of the highest honor in this field, is especially exhilarating. During the process of exchanging ideas with participants of ATD convention, the project attracted interested representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, etc. This means that the innovative talent cultivation model of DIGI+Talent Project could actually be the paradigm of reference for countries around the world. We are extremely pleased to share this innovative model with the other countries around the globe so as to contribute more for the world in the digital talent cultivation domain.
In 2018, DIGI+Talent Project has already started it recruiting process. This year, 13 more research institutes will join the project to collectively cultivate 350 trainees. Additionally, more international big brands such as Microsoft and Google are gathered to provide advanced and abundant learning resources in associated with domains like artificial intelligence and data science for the cultivation of more young cross disciplinary digital talents and the solid foundation of digital transformation in related industries.
