“Attending School” takes the golden decade in one’s life. How to choose the suitable learning institutes for children is always the crucial point that parents care the most. To cope with the loosening of the three laws regarding experimental education, which intends to give the right back to parents to choose their own approaches educating their children, III Digital Education Institute promotes the idea that senior high school graduates could possess their first professional skills so that they could choose different paths at the age of 18, including joining the job markets, starting up a new business, or continuing their studies. For the cause, III Digital Education Institute established Taipei Computational Thinking School and held the first opening ceremony on September 2nd , 2019.
For the first year, Taipei Computational Thinking School provides three age groups for new entrants, including 6th graders, 7th graders, and 10th graders. In the ceremony, President of Taipei Computational Thinking School and Director General of Digital Education Institute I-Chang Tsai welcomed the new students and parents and expected that everyone could collectively create a learning space for children of all ages. In the future, in conjunction with the curriculum design and the topic of computational thinking as well as the use of multiple spaces, it is possible to free children from the rigid learning system, to allow the creation of a more flexible class environment and student age combination so that all aspects of adaptive learning could be achieved.
In fact, in the past, III Digital Education Institute focused on the cultivation of talents in the information field and fostered the innovation and transformation of the domestic smart education industries as well as help them in line with international standards. Based on the experience accumulated for nearly 40 years to run the school, III Digital Education Institute is trying to introduce the latest trend of "computational thinking" that attracts the attention domestically and internationally into the education field. By using CoLab online programming environment developed by III Digital Education Institute itself, implementing thematic projects, deep understanding of math, physics, and chemistry, cultivating reading habits, literary appreciation and global perspectives, participants in this project could try to apply and discuss the idea of “computational thinking” in the real and virtual fields continuously.
In addition, III Digital Education Institute is actively planning to officially authorize various services associated with "computational thinking" such as the curriculum specifications, courses, learning platforms and technology assistance so that charities (non-profit organizations / public schools), individuals ( parents of homeschooling students / village and neighborhood chiefs), educational institutions (parenting schools/ after class schools/ experimental education institutions), and global education units (private schools / international schools) in all 22 counties and cities of Taiwan can have the opportunity to be in touch with the innovative learning perspectives of computational thinking, and together realize the "New Ideal Pragmatism" of education, which enables children to choose their own future.
