Sharing Know-how for Free to Help the Industry Grasp Leading Opportunities, III Promote Digital Transformation from the Inside out.
This year is the 41st Anniversary of III, C.H. Cho, President of III, pointed out, “In comparison with the situation in the past, companies in the industry are facing more significant impact resulted from the advent of digital technologies brought by the digital trend in modern era. Even though the problems lying in front of every enterprise are different, the mutual solution is to find out how to set the goal, how to do, and who to execute; two years ago, few people know about digital transformation, however, nowadays everyone knows its importance but don’t know how to proceed. It is expected that by reading the 30 cases in The Digital Transformation Enabler, business leaders could find the solutions for their companies. By integrating the expertise and technologies of legal persons in various fields and building connections between these units and the firms providing information services as well as associations in the domain, III expects to accumulate resources for cross-domain innovation and construct the cooperation model for multi-win digital transformation.”
The issues of digital transformation involve complex levels and urgently require cross-domain knowledge and talents to work together. III President C.H. Cho specifically mentioned that the reason why III chose to share the book for free download is that III wanted to attract more enterprises to mutually expedite the promotion of the innovative transformation by sharing the know-how. In the future, III will work continuously and closely with the companies mentioned in the cases of the book. III welcomes guidance and suggestions from leading experts from the related fields and expects everyone to work together. It is expected that digital transformation in Taiwan could start from a single enterprise case (point) and then be introduced to a field industry (line). Further, it can be adopted to the upper, middle and lower reaches of the industry so as to form an ecosystem (surface). By this way, the comprehensive promotion of digital transformation in Taiwan could therefore be fully accomplished.
Keeping up with the Times and Providing Ways, Tools, and Consultancy, III Works Closely with SMEs to Collectively Create the Ecosystem for Digital Transformation.
In order to assist companies go through digital transformation as well as integrate advanced technologies, and to provide consulting services, III established the "ACE (Architect, Consultant, and Evangelist) School" in 2019. After consulting and inspecting more than 3000 SMEs, III discovered that more than 45.7% of Taiwanese companies have not yet started the process of digital transformation and only 20.3 % of the enterprises conducting digital transformation have produced positive synthesized effects. In terms of industries, 50.4% of businesses in the manufacturing industry have not yet taken actions in digital transformation, which is higher than that in the service industry. From the perspective of the synthesized effects, only 19% of the manufacturing businesses produced positive effects, which is lower than that of the enterprises in the service industry. From the above, it is clear that among domestic businesses, SMEs which act as the backbone of our society are at their preliminary stage of digital transformation.
ACE School observed that either within individual companies or in the vertical industrial chain, companies are facing problems including the succession of the second generation of company founders, the inability of masters to pass on their experience, and the changing of the times, rapid changes in a company’s life cycle, etc. Further, over the years, local enterprises have developed the cluster characteristics of the settlement industry chain. If they need to transform, the beginning point must start from the overall ecological environment. Regarding this issue, Ren-Dar Yang, the Executive Vice President of III shared in the press conference on July 23th, “ In response to the need of the industry for digital transformation, III is now gathering resources from the fields of research and development, think tank, talent cultivation, and industry service and interviewing domestic businesses. On the one hand, consultants from III provide adequate methods and tools for enterprises in the domain. One the other hand, III works with associations in the industry to prepare in advance for the impact of the digital tides by the way of coaching and co-creation. Therefore, companies of the related industries in Taiwan could continue to stand unshakable in the business!”
On July 23th, III invited representatives of domestic SMEs and innovators to the book launch to share their experience regarding internal transformation. Min Aik Technology, the company producing computer peripheral components, faced the problem of the lack of labor on the production line because of the aging population and declining of birthrate. Following the guidance of the ACE consultants of III, Min Aik Technology was able to transform into a smart factory. Through the methods provided by III digital transformation consultancy service, Telexpress Corporation, which is engaged in electronic customer relationship management, uses blockchain technology to organize co-creation workshops with partners such as Hsinchu Logistics and China Trust to provide solutions to the core issues of “trust ”and “smart contract“ in the retail supply chain, and plans to provide cross-domain service system that combines logistics and cash flows.
Proval Industrial, a company which belongs to the precision metal processing industry in the public bicycle industry supply chain, also faces the same problem of lacking sufficient labor. Collaborating with National Chin-Yi University of Technology, III assisted Proval Industrial first proactively optimize the production line and introduced digital transformation strategies. By a three-stage process, III was able to assemble consulting teams consisting of experts from various fields so as to maximize the comprehensive effect of resource integration. In the case of the start-up company Heroic-Faith Medical Science, in response to the need for scientific and technological epidemic prevention approach to deal with the COVID-19 epidemic, the company has developed an AI edge computing system for continuous real-time breathing monitoring (AI stethoscope). III assisted in connecting 5G dedicated network for the project, checking the security of the development process through information security testing as well as mobile device App testing, and establishing a medical information security compliance framework. It is expected that in the future, when the products are mature enough, they can be marketed to the customers abroad and compete in the global market.
Digital transformation is a continuous work. Promoting digital transformation requires the determination of business owners, the investment of resources, and even changes in corporate organization and culture. III will continue to play the role of "Digital Transformation Enabler", and cooperate with all sectors of industry, government, academia, and research to build a completed supply and demand mechanism. By working side by side with SMEs, III assists industry players to find a core value proposition in the process of reshaping the industrial value chain, thereby shaping a positive and virtuous cycle in the digital transformation ecological environment. III stands firmly to promote accelerated innovation and digital transformation in all industries, enhance the overall competitiveness of the industry, and create more business opportunities for all.
