Generative AI has sparked a huge wave of innovation globally. According to a survey conducted by Expert.ai, 78 percent of enterprises realize that effectively training a company-specific GPT is a major undertaking. Building Your Own GPT (BYOG) has become a brand new challenge that enterprises are facing.
Since establishing the "AI 133 LAB" (Note 1) in August of this year, the Software Technology Institute of the Institute for Information Industry (STI, III) has been continuously developing "Guidelines for Software Development Assisted by Generative AI" (Note 2) and training professional talents with integrated capabilities in AI-Generated Content (AIGC) during the periods of training as well as employment. They can provide professional AIGC consulting services, with the aim of assisting industries to successfully transform amidst this wave of generative AI.
On November 2nd, the Software Technology Institute (STI) held the "1st STI TECH DAY" with the theme "Emerging Trends and New Ecosystem Landscape". Experts from industry, academia, and research gathered together to explore industry trends and the development of emerging ecosystems. After launching the "AI Literacy Required for Enterprises in 2023 - Guidelines for Adopting Generative AI" in August, STI released in November the "Guidelines for Software Development Assisted by Generative AI" based on software development, sharing the experience from their consulting services for Building Your Own GPT (BYOG). The Software Technology Institute of the Institute for Information Industry has observed the demand for AI applications across various industries. STI’s teams have worked jointly with companies in related fields to define AIGC (AI-Generated Content) development strategies. This event showcased the results, and through sharing perspectives from industry, academia, and research, participants demonstrated the abundant capabilities and achievements in the process of Building Your Own GPT (BYOG).
The "Guidelines for Software Development Assisted by Generative AI" provides software developers venturing into generative AI with an understanding of the generative AI software development approach, as well as potential problems and solutions they may encounter. It establishes the necessary steps, formulates principles, and provides actionable norms to build a responsible software development mechanism. This ensures that enterprises develop and deploy AIGC responsibly, thereby improving software development efficiency. At the same time, the Institute for Information Industry provides BYOG (Build Your Own GPT) consulting services. These services are based on III’s practical experience in promoting AIGC implementation, assisting public and private organizations to develop their own secure, private, trustworthy, and compliant enterprise brains. III also offers services such as innovation workshops, case demonstration, hands-on guidelines, technical tools, and talent training programs that integrate learning stages and actual execution under employment.
Ren-Dar Yang, the Executive Vice President of the Institute for Information Industry, stated that the next wave of application trends for enterprises is establishing their own knowledge brains and having models tailored to each of the hundreds of industries. As a key player in the information industry, the Institute for Information Industry will continue to develop itself as a professional BYOG (Build Your Own GPT) consulting service provider. Through tool guidelines and corresponding interaction mechanisms, III aims to ensure that both the supply and demand sides can benefit within this ecosystem.
Henry Meng, Acting Director of the Software Technology Institute, stated that as a key player in the generative AI ecosystem, AI 133 Lab has established partnerships and collaborative relationships with industry partners such as Microsoft Taiwan and Taiwan Web Service Corporation (TWSC), etc. In addition to conducting demonstration projects in medical materials, information electronics, and finance, AI 133 Lab will also assist the Information Service Industry Association of R.O.C. (CISA) in planning relevant education and training programs. Moreover, in the future, the Software Technology Institute will formulate a generative AI software platform and common architecture. This will enable IT service providers to develop applications in a secure environment, while enterprises on the demand side can quickly find suitable solutions.
The Software Technology Institute of the Institute for Information Industry will continue to collaborate with partners from industry, academia, and research to serve as a navigator who is able to lead professionals to develop emerging technologies and build an ecosystem from a macro perspective. The Software Technology Institute will drive the development of the information service software industry, further validating advanced AI consulting service models and strategies for amplifying industrial benefits. AI 133 Lab will continue to empower the information service industry, enabling service providers to create tools and knowledge models across different domains, rapidly and effectively achieving the goals associated with digital transformation. In the near future, the Institute for Information Industry will collaborate with partners from industry, academia, and public associations to train hundreds of BYOG (Build Your Own GPT) generative AI talent experts, which will fuel the generative AI ecosystem. III will also work with service providers from the information service industry to help units from the public and private sectors achieve the goals of digital transformation and optimization in a short period of time.
Note 1: AI 133 Lab - The name originates from the location of the Institute for Information Industry's building (No. 133, Sec. 4, Minsheng E. Rd.), where III dedicates to promoting digital transformation and innovative software development. It symbolizes this site as the base and hub for converging generative AI application technologies and solutions.
