Win glory for Taiwan's ICT industry! Supported by the Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT) , Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), the Regional Industry Service Division (RISD), Institute for Information Industry, researches and develops "Sustainable Health Promotion Solutions", which combines somatosensory technology with sports and rehabilitation equipment, as well as back-end data analysis in the cloud, to help develop health promotion services and products with high added value and innovative applications, creating a new industrial situation for intelligent services. This time, DoIT cooperated with Kaohsiung City Government, Pingtung County Government, Daren University of Science and Technology, and local industry players to hold a number of health lectures and exhibitions to promote the structural transformation and upgrading of the local health industry, and won the 2021 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Award.
The Global ICT Excellence Awards issued by the World Information Technology and Service Industry Alliance (WITSA) is known as the "Oscar Award in the Information and Communication Industry". Since the Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), has long supported the development of forward-looking and crucial technologies in the health promotion industry, there is a trace for DoIT to utilize the research and development results of the "Next-generation Environmental Intelligent System Technology Research and Development and Application Promotion Program"— connecting the smart box with various sports fitness and rehabilitation equipment, collecting data to provide complete data analysis suggestions and training course recommendations, and using AR and VR immersive digital experience — to develop a "Sustainable Health Promotion Solution". This solution is helpful to improve the predicament of fitness or rehabilitation remote video teaching during the epidemic: it is impossible to keep students’ learning situation under control in real time. With the assistance of the solution, the public are able to genuinely feel the health promotion application service so that the industrial benefits of cross-industry and cross-domain integration services of somatosensory technology application can be achieved. This is also the reason why the complete application results have been recognized internationally.
The original intention of RISD to develop "Sustainable Health Promotion Solutions" is to improve people's health and introduce digital tools to the fitness and rehabilitation industries. This is because when the general public conducts self-training, they often find themselves in this situation: the exercise process is monotonous, training data recording could not be conducted in real time, and there is no professional guidance. For personal trainers or rehabilitators, rehabilitation courses are also prone to problems such as time constraints, changes in coach personnel, and the inability to maintain the quality of courses due to the surge in the number of clients. In order to seek solutions and proactively promote the transformation and upgrading of the structure and content of the health promotion industry, the R&D team cooperates with professional players of the health promotion industry, by using technologies such as AIoT, AR, VR, and AI image recognition, integrating existing hardware equipment, and matching it with the information and analysis of recorded data in the database, to develop a series of " Siung-Sport" products.
The R&D team of " Siung-Sport System" cooperates with local government units and schools such as Kaohsiung City Government, Pingtung County Government, Daren University of Science and Technology, etc., and collaborates with local industry players such as Mind Fitness Sports Center and Kaohsiung Feng-shan Sports Park as well as care facilities such as Tao Yuan Love Your Neighbor Association and other care institutions in the southern part of Taiwan to provide value-added services and drive the structural transformation of the health industry.
To ingrain the concept of national health in the public, the R&D team also actively works with start-up companies to promote national health promotion application services and assist in industrial development in events such as National High School Games, National Anti-Drug Expo, New Modern Pentathlon, 2021 Digital Taipei, and Taiwan Technology Expo, etc. The dazzling performance of the team has been highly recognized by the judges.
Hung, Yu-shiang, Director General of Regional Industry Service Division (RISD), Institute for Information Industry, indicated RISD is honored that the "Sustainable Health Promotion Solution" could stand out among many proposals and win the 2021 Global ICT Excellence Award, which can be seen as a contribution to the ICT industry of Taiwan. In the future, RISD will continue to utilize technology as the tool to help the digital transformation of local industries, create local characteristic industries jointly with domestic organizations, continue to act as a bridge between supply and demand, align with central policies and local governments, assist local SMEs in the process of digital transformation, and develop innovative industries with local characteristics.
