Overview
III’s operation has been focused on introducing emerging ICT technology and methodology integration, followed by innovative value-added application. Such application is to be promoted and developed in various industries to increase their competitiveness in terms of innovative business service model and to be successful in the new economic era. III has played multiple roles in the ICT arena. It has been the organizer of the annual Information Month which triggered the upsurge of computer information in the society. The internet penetration rate of 3 million people in 3 years has expedited the arrival of an Internet society which in turn prompted the implementation of an e-Government in government agencies with the goal of servicing the people. The introduction of international ICT standards has allowed domestic enterprises to be at par with international industries.
In recent years, III has helped the industry in operating a new business model for technology service which includes the promotion of “Service Experience Engineering” (S.E.E.) application, the study of service industry trends, the INNOnet exchange platform and Design Lab process, and the forging of alliances among users, domain enterprises, and the IT industry in order to meet consumer demand. To increase competitiveness, III has combined the resources of the government, the academe, and private industries to provide guidance to SMEs in terms of utilizing the ICT technology as well as integrating dynamic technology application, clustering concepts and the innovative business service model.
The excellent Information Security technology development and the government Information Security service teams of III serve as staff members of the Executive Yuan’s National Information & Communication Security Taskforce. They were likewise recognized by the International Cyber Security conference for their achievements in research and development. III has effectively assisted the central and local governments in information security in the past years. The future task is to expand the National Information Security contingency system in its entirety, and build a Center for Information Security Information Sharing which includes the government, local industries, the academe, research institutes, and 6 leading private ISPs that would form a pre-alert and emergency response community, as well as build a Training and Evaluation System to promote government Information Security professional capability.
